Where Do We Go From Here? What are our next steps?
Here are two important ways to pump up the momentum
Step One
Take Action Today to Stop the Spread of AUthoritarianism
Concrete actions such as phone banking, hosting events, land letter writing make your dissent clear and are effective in turning the tide.
Step Two
Take Action Build for the Future
Invest in the long-term to create lasting power that resists threats to our democracy and people. Train to be a leader, connect with people and organizations on a shared goal, or educate yourself on resistance.
With the NH legislative session now wrapped up, it’s time to focus on the Governor’s Office

Book Banning
VETO
HB 324 undermines our right to education by throwing open the floodgates to ban books based on personal preference and encourages self-appointed censors to impose their beliefs on all Granite State families.
Email the governor easily here.
Call Governor Ayotte at 603-271-2121 and say something like:
I am a voter from Mont Vernon and I am calling to ask that the Governor support free speech and stop unconstitutional book bans in NH by VETOING HB 324. Politically motivated censorship has no place here, and attacking Granite Staters’ First Amendment rights violates our state’s core values. Book bans are ineffective, archaic, and designed to limit the information, communities, and context we can access. Students have a right to learn from a diverse range of materials — including library books by and about marginalized communities — and we must support that right.
Voting Rights
VETO
Despite our efforts, 4 bills designed to make absentee voting harder are headed for signature. Here’s what you can do:
Contact Governor Ayotte using this pre-drafted, customizable email template to tell her to VETO SB 213, SB 218, SB 287, and HB 613.
Call Governor Ayotte at 603-271-2121 and say something like:
I am a voter from Mont Vernon and I am calling to ask that the Governor VETO SB 213, SB 218, SB287, and HB 613. Absentee and accessible voting in New Hampshire already work well and we don’t need to make it harder. These bills create new barriers for seniors, people with disabilities, rural voters, and others who vote absentee because they cannot easily get to the polls. HB 613 unfairly shifts the burden from the state to the individual and creates unique obstacles for voters with disabilities, who risk losing their fundamental right to vote unless they anticipate their voting needs months in advance. Support Granite Staters exercising this fundamental right and veto all 4 bills.
Send a postcard to Governor Ayotte urging her to VETO SB 213, SB 218, SB 287, and HB 613.

Transgender Health Care Bans
VETO
Every major medical association agrees that gender-affirming medical care for transgender youth is essential treatment for those who need it. Health care decisions should be made by patients, their families, and their health care providers - never politicians.
Email the governor easily here.
Call Governor Ayotte at 603-271-2121 and say something like:
I am a voter from Mont Vernon and I am calling to ask that the Governor VETO House Bills 377 and 712., and Senate Bill 284. Both HB 377 and HB 712 specifically target transgender teenagers, who are some of the most marginalized young people. Families of transgender youth need to be able to ensure their child can get the medical care they need. Decades of research showing this health care to be safe, effective, and essential to the health and well-being of many transgender youth. Please don’t allow politics to overrule science.

War in Iran
Contact our Congressional Delegation
Trump has shown that he believes himself to be a king - without legal or ethical constraints. He doesn’t believe he is answerable to the American people.
His second term has been a constant litany of horror. Now, he’s provoking all-out war with Iran by unilaterally taking actions that could be seen as a declaration of war - without the explicit authorization required by the US Constitution. We cannot stand by and stand silent.Call our representatives and urge them to stand strong and lead with determination. We need their strength and their leadership now more than ever. Tell them that Granite Staters demand accountability, oversight and adherence to the demands of the US Constitution. Tell them No War.
You will often get voicemail or a staffer who is there to record your opinions.
