MVDC Actions - Week of 04/26/2026
Good News!
SB101 - Open Enrollment - TABLED!
This is great news for NH families and taxpayers!
SB101 would have done nothing to solve NH’s school funding issues and had strong public opposition. School districts would have lost money, causing property taxes to continue to rise. Questions about services to students with disabilities remained unanswered and only families with means were likely to be able to take advantage of this option. Property taxpayers who have invested for years in their local schools might have found that their own students were bumped from AP classes, sports teams, school theater productions, etc., by students transferring in from other districts.
Stay tuned, the battle isn't over yet! Senator Tim Lang (R-Sanbornton), the SB101’s sponsor, attached an open enrollment amendment to HB751.
AND at the federal level…

Additional NH Actions You Can Take
Tell your state senator to stop the classroom censorship and OPPOSE HB1132
From our friends at:
The New Hampshire Senate is preparing to vote on a bill that would ban nearly all flags and banners at our public schools, with only a few exceptions. It would ban many items: from a happy birthday banner, to a college flag or flags celebrating graduates, to flags representing students' ancestry and pride flags, mental health awareness or bullying prevention month banners, and much more.
If passed, this extreme bill would chill and restrict the free speech and expression rights of students and teachers, with very limited exceptions for even classroom lessons. In addition to negatively impacting the education of all students through classroom censorship, it would also create a chilling effect for students or even limit displays of student artwork or club activities. It would create unwelcoming environments for both teachers and students, especially students from the LGBTQ community and immigrant families.
Additional Federal Actions You Can Take
Tell Congress: immediately halt deportations and detention and demand that ICE and Border Patrol stay out of our communities.
From our friends at:
Every person has inherent worth, no matter where they were born. As a Quaker organization, we believe all people's rights should be respected. That includes immigrants. But today the Trump administration is using brutal measures to detain and deport more people.
Join us as we mobilize to protect our neighbors, our neighborhoods, and our rights. Send a message to Congress and the Trump administration. Tell them to immediately halt deportations and detention.
Demand that ICE and Border Patrol stay out of our communities. Tell them to respect the rights and dignity of all people!
Stop the War with Iran: Petition to Congress
From our friends at:
On Feb. 28, the United States and Israel launched major military attacks on Iran. This is immoral and blatantly illegal. No president has the authority to use military force against another nation without Congressional approval. War will never lead to peace—it will cost thousands of lives, further destabilize the Middle East, and make all of us less safe.
Tell Congress to Stop Attacks on Planned Parenthood
From our friends at:
Millions rely on Planned Parenthood health centers for birth control, cancer screenings, STI testing, and essential care. Congressional threats to Medicaid funding put these services at risk. Stand with patients now.
