MVDC Actions - Week of 2/16/2025

Protect Absentee Voting in New Hampshire!

From our friends at 603 Forward:

A package of anti-voter bills—HB418, HB217, HB686, and HB608 —is moving through the legislature, this time targeting absentee voting.

  • Absentee voting is already difficult for many and these measures would make it even harder for eligible voters to participate in our democracy.

  • The proposed changes could lead to confusion and disenfranchisement, particularly for those who rely on absentee ballots due to work, caregiving responsibilities, or limited access to polling places.

  • We should be expanding access to voting, not restricting it.

Please contact Election Law Committee Members and ask them, as a voter, to oppose this package of anti-voter bills and stand up for the right of all Granite Staters to have a voice in our elections. If possible, use a personal story about you or someone you know who has needed to vote absentee or would have difficulty voting if absentee voting was restricted. [Talking points on the 4 individual bills can be found here]

Guns Don't Belong in Polling Places!

From our friends at HCDC:

SUPPORT HB352-FN, prohibiting possession of a firearm at a polling place.

By Wednesday:

Please contact our D42 House Representatives and ask them to support and pass HB352:

  • Keith Michael Ammon - keith.ammon@leg.state.nh.us 603-296-9879

  • Gerald Griffin - gerald.griffin@leg.state.nh.us 603-673-7467

  • Lisa C.M. Post - lisacmpost@gmail.com 802-730-5401

Tell your State Representatives that you are a constituent and you consider voting records at election time.

Your email subject line should include reference to being a constituent. Example: Constituent Request: Vote to Support HB352

Short emails are more effective. State your request and just a few talking points, put into your own words, or a personal story.

This week’s sign in opportunities…

This week’s sign in opportunities are below. I’m still playing with the best formats and would love feedback.

House and Senate bills are listed separately and organized by day and Committee to minimize the number of times you have to enter your personal information.

I have separated each day into sections for SUPPORT and OPPOSE to avoid the situation where you get on a roll and inadvertently support a bill you meant to oppose or vice versa. Yes, I have done this. Sigh.

These opportunities are gleaned from a variety of sources including Kent Street Coalition, NHDP, ACLU, HCDC, and 603 Forward. No worries if you don’t agree with all their calls and definitely feel free to research the individual bills to be sure that you do agree before proceeding.
