MVDC Actions - Week of 10/26/2025

First some good news!

A huge thank-you to the more than 100 people who emailed the Senate Election Law Committee last week opposing SB223, which would have removed college IDs from the list of valid photo identification for voting. The committee unanimously voted 5-0 to kill the bill!

Our voices do matter!

Protest Opportunities

Last week, Kent Street showed up at the State House with costumed skeletons, coffins and a Grim Reaper. Many wore black, some donned mourning veils. A banner read “If the NH GOP has its way…”  The skeletons each represented all that is at risk under the current GOP-controlled government.

They shared a handout entitled, “A Dystopian Obituary for New Hampshire”

Help educate MV voters about Free Staters and the Liberty Alliance

Katy Cutshall, HCDC Chair has asked for our help:

Several years ago, Granite State Matters (GSM), run by Jeanne Dietsch, sent over 100,000 postcards around the state informing folks about the Free State Project.

This is another round targeting: 13,000 households with undeclared voters in New Boston, Lyndeborough, Mont Vernon, Milford, Bedford, and Merrimack. Including 477 Mont Vernon addresses.

Volunteers will write a brief message on the preprinted postcards between now and October 31st.

Postcards are here - WE NEED JUST 3 MV volunteers! DONE!

  • Postcard postage is 61 cents per card. Packets are 30 cards. $18.30 in postage covers one set of 30 cards.

Urge members of the NH House Ways and Means Committee to vote NO on HB524 at their Executive Session Wednesday.

Protect Vaccine Access for NH Families.

The NH House Ways and Means Committee will meet in Executive Session on Wednesday, October 29 at 10 am, to vote on HB524, a bill that would end our state's current system for providing access to vaccines for children. Currently, insurance companies pay money into a central fund (run by the NH Vaccine Association) that buys vaccines for all children in the state. If this bill passes, doctors' offices would need to buy immunizations upfront and then bill insurance companies directly for children with private insurance. Families will face an increase in fees and insurance premiums. Additionally, immunizations will be harder to find, as small practice providers will be unable to afford the expenses associated with maintaining their own inventories.

Urge members of the House Finance Committee to vote NO on HB365 at their Executive Session Wednesday

HB365 would create a voucher program requiring voters to declare themselves “indigent” in order to receive free copies of vital records for voter registration purposes.

This approach is both demeaning and unnecessary: the NH Division of Vital Records Administration now provides free copies of vital records specifically for voter registration, making the voucher program redundant. The most practical solution remains restoring an affidavit process, allowing voters to attest to their citizenship under penalty of law, ensuring access without unnecessary barriers or costs.

Stop HB639 a bad crypto mining bill to protect NH quality of life

Call or email NH Senators Innis, Ricciardi, Reardon and Fenton:

Sample script: Hi Senator, My name is ___ and I live in ___, NH. I am concerned that HB639 will give more power to out-of-state cryptomining businesses than it will give to me and my NH neighbors. This is wrong and we need more local control over these risky enterprises.

Keep SNAP Funded

Tell Congress: Act Quickly to Keep SNAP (Food Stamps) Funded in November!

As a result of the shutdown, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, also called Food Stamps or EBT) is about to run out of money. This would be devastating for families. Fortunately, there is a temporary solution, and your voice is critical! The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has the authority to use contingency and carryover funds to keep SNAP running through November, but it has not yet taken action to do so. Unless they act quickly, millions of hard-working families will go hungry in November – and face bare Thanksgiving tables.

This is a big deal: 1 out of every 8 people utilize SNAP benefits to take care of their families, contribute to their communities, and build good lives. These hardworking Americans are at risk of going hungry in November unless the Trump Administration’s Department of Agriculture releases the SNAP contingency funding immediately

Action: Sign this petition to tell your Member of Congress to press the Trump Administration to release the SNAP contingency funding immediately to ensure families can put food on the table in November!

Use the form above or even better, contact their offices directly:
