MVDC Actions - Week of 10/12/2025
Protest Opportunities
If fear is the most potent poison of oppressors, “courage is its greatest antidote.”
Courage in the face of tyranny can look like many things. It can be big and public, or small and private. But this Saturday, October 18th, courage looks like one thing: showing up. We show up because we know Trump wants nothing more than to scare us into silence. We refuse to be silent.

Help educate MV voters about Free Staters and the Liberty Alliance
Katy Cutshall, HCDC Chair has asked for our help:
Several years ago, Granite State Matters (GSM), run by Jeanne Dietsch, sent over 100,000 postcards around the state informing folks about the Free State Project.
This is another round targeting: 13,000 households with undeclared voters in New Boston, Lyndeborough, Mont Vernon, Milford, Bedford, and Merrimack. Including 477 Mont Vernon addresses.
Volunteers will write a brief message on the preprinted postcards between October 17th and October 31st.
We need 12 more MV volunteers to write postcards & donate postage - We are considering scheduling a working session to make it more fun!
Postcard postage is 61 cents per card. Packets are 30 cards. $18.30 in postage covers one set of 30 cards.
Want to volunteer? Fill out the form and hit submit!
Federal Actions
From our friends at:
By October 20th:
Submit a comment to the Election Assistance Commission (EAC) opposing a pending request to require Americans to provide proof of citizenship when registering to vote.
The Election Assistance Commission (EAC) is considering whether to grant the pending request from the America First Legal Foundation (Stephen Miller's law firm).
Federal courts already blocked a similar provision back in April.
More than 21 million American citizens don’t have documents like a passport or birth certificate readily available.
Only about half of American adults have a passport.
Married women and other voters who change their names, voters of color, and younger voters are especially likely to be disenfranchised.
And while proponents of these restrictions cite election security as their rationale, numerous comprehensive studies have shown that noncitizen voting is extremely rare.
Comments must be submitted by October 20 at midnight. Here’s how:
Go to the petition page on regulations.gov by clicking here.
Copy and paste the sample text below or create your own comment to include in the comment box.
Submit the comment as an individual. You may also submit anonymously.
Sample submission text: I staunchly oppose requiring citizens to submit a passport, birth certificate, or other proof of citizenship to register to vote. Only about half of American citizens hold a passport, and millions do not have a birth certificate reflecting their current legal name. In New Hampshire—one of just four states with proof-of-citizenship requirements—the disheartening consequences of this unnecessary red tape have begun to be seen: nearly 100 eligible voters were turned away at March Town Meeting alone. Noncitizens are already prohibited from registering and voting in federal and state elections; these additional paperwork requirements serve only to prevent eligible voters from casting their ballots, discouraging civic participation.

Government Shutdown!
President Trump and Republicans in Congress shut down the government, pushing a partisan spending bill that will increase Americans' health care costs.
Action: Sign this petition to tell Republican leaders in Congress to reopen the government by passing a funding bill that reverses health care cuts, keeps hospitals open, and lowers costs.
