NEW
Electioneering
VETO
From NHMA - There is one remaining priority bill that the governor hasn’t acted on, and we are asking members to contact the governor’s office and request a veto.
SB 213: “Electioneering” by public employees
Creates a misdemeanor-level offense for public employees who, in the performance of their official duties, act in “any way designed to influence the vote of a voter on any question or office.”
Exposes public workers to legal complaints for simply sharing information intended to educate voters and foster transparency, or even have everyday conversations about municipal operations, if a complainant believes such action had the effect of influencing a voter.
Calls into question what information cities and towns may legally put out to educate voters, like voter guides.
Here is how to make your voice heard:

Voting Rights
VETO
Despite our efforts, 4 bills designed to make absentee voting harder are headed for signature. Here’s what you can do:
Contact Governor Ayotte using this pre-drafted, customizable email template to tell her to VETO SB 213, SB 218, SB 287, and HB 613.
Call Governor Ayotte at 603-271-2121 and say something like:
I am a voter from Mont Vernon and I am calling to ask that the Governor VETO SB 213, SB 218, SB287, and HB 613. Absentee and accessible voting in New Hampshire already work well and we don’t need to make it harder. These bills create new barriers for seniors, people with disabilities, rural voters, and others who vote absentee because they cannot easily get to the polls. HB 613 unfairly shifts the burden from the state to the individual and creates unique obstacles for voters with disabilities, who risk losing their fundamental right to vote unless they anticipate their voting needs months in advance. Support Granite Staters exercising this fundamental right and veto all 4 bills.
Send a postcard to Governor Ayotte urging her to VETO SB 213, SB 218, SB 287, and HB 613.

Transgender Health Care Bans
VETO
Every major medical association agrees that gender-affirming medical care for transgender youth is essential treatment for those who need it. Health care decisions should be made by patients, their families, and their health care providers - never politicians.
Email the governor easily here.
Call Governor Ayotte at 603-271-2121 and say something like:
I am a voter from Mont Vernon and I am calling to ask that the Governor VETO House Bills 377 and 712., and Senate Bill 284. Both HB 377 and HB 712 specifically target transgender teenagers, who are some of the most marginalized young people. Families of transgender youth need to be able to ensure their child can get the medical care they need. Decades of research showing this health care to be safe, effective, and essential to the health and well-being of many transgender youth. Please don’t allow politics to overrule science.

What: Postcard Writing Campaign
When: Sunday, July 27, 1-3pm
Where: Gibson's Bookstore, Concord OR The Old Town Hall, 10 Paige Memorial Lane, Weare (next to the Weare Public Library)
Why: Educate Voters on the Free Stater/Liberty Alliance
Kent Street Coalition is teaming with Southern NH Indivisible and the Weare Democrats to handwrite 2500 postcards to undeclared voters in Weare. Every aspect of this postcard will be handwritten; the message, the address, everything! Think of it as a handwritten note to your neighbor. We want to help them understand who the Free Stater/Liberty Alliance are and how they are hurting their community. Need more information on the Free Staters and the Liberty Alliance? Visit Granite State Matters or watch this 9 minute video "What's really happening in NH."
Pre-stamped postcards, addresses, and a detailed message will be provided. You will need to write the address and message on the postcards. Postcards will be distributed in packs of 10. The minimum obligation is 10, and we are asking volunteers to donate $7.00/pack to cover the postage. Of course, you are welcome to do more than 10, but that is the minimum.
You can participate in one of THREE ways:
Join us at Gibson's (45 S. Main St, Concord) on July 27th from 1-3pm to write your postcards, and let's have some fun while we do it!
Join us at The Old Town Hall in Weare (10 Paige Memorial Lane, next to the Weare Public Library) on July 27th from 1-3pm to write your postcards. Sign up here
Pick up postcards at Gibson's OR The Old Town Hall in Weare to write them from the comfort of your own home. They will need to be dropped off at the local post office on the morning of Wednesday, July 30th. It is critical that all postcards go out in the mail on the same day.
A member of Southern NH Indivisible team will be at Gibson's and the Old Town Hall in Weare on the 27th to distribute postcards.
If you have questions prior to the event, please email Southern NH Indivisible at SNHI54@gmail.com.
