No Kings Movement Continues with a National Day of Action

Good Trouble Lives On Protest

July 17th

Gather with family and friends in a nationwide day of peaceful protests honoring the legacy of John Lewis. Click the link below for information on local protests or organizing a protest in your area

Where Do We Go From Here? What are our next steps?

Here are two important ways to pump up the momentum

Step One

Take Action Today to Stop the Spread of AUthoritarianism

Concrete actions such as phone banking, hosting events, land letter writing make your dissent clear and are effective in turning the tide.

Step Two

Take Action Build for the Future

Invest in the long-term to create lasting power that resists threats to our democracy and people. Train to be a leader, connect with people and organizations on a shared goal, or educate yourself on resistance.

These bills are still showing as awaiting signature in the Governor’s Office

Call & Email Kelly Ayotte - Regarding these key bills

Housing

SIGN

Key reforms to address our housing shortage are heading to the Governor to be signed. Take action to help them get across the finish line!

  1. Email the governor easily here.

  2. Call Governor Ayotte at 603-271-2121 and say something like:

I am a voter from Mont Vernon and I am calling to ask that the Governor SIGN House Bills 577 and 631, and Senate Bill 284. These bills are critical in solving our housing shortage.

Book Banning

VETO

HB 324 undermines our right to education by throwing open the floodgates to ban books based on personal preference and encourages self-appointed censors to impose their beliefs on all Granite State families.

  1. Email the governor easily here.

  2. Call Governor Ayotte at 603-271-2121 and say something like:

I am a voter from Mont Vernon and I am calling to ask that the Governor support free speech and stop unconstitutional book bans in NH by VETOING HB 324. Politically motivated censorship has no place here, and attacking Granite Staters’ First Amendment rights violates our state’s core values. Book bans are ineffective, archaic, and designed to limit the information, communities, and context we can access. Students have a right to learn from a diverse range of materials — including library books by and about marginalized communities — and we must support that right.

Voting Rights

VETO

Despite our efforts, 4 bills designed to make absentee voting harder are headed for signature. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Contact Governor Ayotte using this pre-drafted, customizable email template to tell her to VETO SB 213, SB 218, SB 287, and HB 613.

  2. Call Governor Ayotte at 603-271-2121 and say something like:

I am a voter from Mont Vernon and I am calling to ask that the Governor VETO SB 213, SB 218, SB287, and HB 613. Absentee and accessible voting in New Hampshire already work well and we don’t need to make it harder. These bills create new barriers for seniors, people with disabilities, rural voters, and others who vote absentee because they cannot easily get to the polls. HB 613 unfairly shifts the burden from the state to the individual and creates unique obstacles for voters with disabilities, who risk losing their fundamental right to vote unless they anticipate their voting needs months in advance. Support Granite Staters exercising this fundamental right and veto all 4 bills.

  3. Send a postcard to Governor Ayotte urging her to VETO  SB 213, SB 218, SB 287, and HB 613.

Transgender Health Care Bans

VETO

Every major medical association agrees that gender-affirming medical care for transgender youth is essential treatment for those who need it. Health care decisions should be made by patients, their families, and their health care providers - never politicians.

  1. Email the governor easily here.

  2. Call Governor Ayotte at 603-271-2121 and say something like:

I am a voter from Mont Vernon and I am calling to ask that the Governor VETO House Bills 377 and 712., and Senate Bill 284. Both HB 377 and HB 712 specifically target transgender teenagers, who are some of the most marginalized young people. Families of transgender youth need to be able to ensure their child can get the medical care they need. Decades of research showing this health care to be safe, effective, and essential to the health and well-being of many transgender youth. Please don’t allow politics to overrule science.

KSC Call to Action on ICE

Contact our Congressional Delegation

Please call or write your federal reps to express your profound concern about the illegal, cruel attacks on the immigrant community by ICE, and the unlawful attempt by the Department of Homeland Security to exclude ICE offices from Congressional oversight.  Members of Congress must not relinquish their statutory oversight authority, must insist on unrestricted access to ICE field offices, and sue DHS if it attempts to deny that.

Please call or write today:
Representative Chris Pappas https://pappas.house.gov/contact
Washington, DC  20510  (202) 225-5456
Representative Maggie Goodlander https://goodlander.house.gov/contact

Senator Jean Shaheen https://www.shaheen.senate.gov/contact/contact-jeanne
Washington, DC 20510 (202-224-2841

You will often get voicemail or a staffer who is there to record your opinions.

Say something like:
Hi, my name is _____ and I’m a resident of _________.  I’m calling to request that ________ Publicly denounce ICE’s aggressive detention of individuals who pose no threat to public safety; Condemn the federalization of the California National Guard and the deployment of Marines in Los Angeles; Speak out in opposition particularly because Governor Ayotte has not opposed these tactics, and instead has aligned herself with ICE and encouraged local law enforcement to support them; Use their “bully pulpit” visibly and aggressively to call out illegal activity by the Trump administration.

Thank you for your time and consideration.
