Additional NH Actions You Can Take

From Kent Street -

Call, Write, or Email Governor Ayotte to Veto the Discriminatory Bathroom and Locker Room Bans

6 nearly identical bills are making their way through the NH House and Senate. Governor Kelly Ayotte has vetoed similar legislation. Let’s ask her to do it again if these bills arrive on her desk.

These bills seek to legalize discrimination for bathrooms, locker rooms, sports, and prisons based on "biological sex" defined only as "male" and "female,” completely erasing the scientific reality of intersex individuals.

These discriminatory policies have no place in NH and create real-world privacy and safety concerns for all Granite Staters.

We need to stop HB1442, HB 1447, HB 1299, HB1217, SB552 and SB459.

From Open Democracy Action -

Call, Write, or Email Governor Ayotte to Veto HB323 banning the use of  student IDs for voting

Urge Governor Ayotte to veto HB323 when it reaches her desk. This bill targets young people by banning the use of  student IDs for voting. We should be encouraging young people to vote and engage in civic life rather than putting unnecessary barriers in place that prevent them from doing so. A similar bill, SB223, is being heard in the House this week. Urge her to veto that bill as well should it reach her desk.

New Hampshire Campaign for Voting Rights is OPPOSING this bill as a top priority.

What this bill does:

  • This legislation would narrow the number of acceptable forms of identity for voters, requiring that only government-issued IDs be used. It would eliminate the use of student IDs but continue to allow government IDs issued by other states.

Why this matters:

  • Voters who are 18, U.S. citizens, and domiciled in New Hampshire have the right to vote here and are asked to prove their identity when they do so. By restricting the list of acceptable IDs to government-issued only, eligible voters—especially young people and those without a driver’s license or passport—will be turned away solely because they don’t have the “right” document, even when they can otherwise prove who they are and that they are eligible.

Hurts:

  • Students and young voters

  • Seniors and people without a driver’s license

  • Working people who don’t carry extra documents

  • Local election officials dealing with longer lines and conflict

Helps:

  • Politicians spreading fear and misinformation

  • Those trying to shrink the electorate instead of strengthening democracy

Talking Points:

  • “HB 323 solves a problem that doesn’t exist and would turn away eligible voters by limiting acceptable IDs.”

  • “New Hampshire elections are already secure. HB 323 is based on false claims of fraud and would make voting harder for voters, especially young people and seniors.”

  • “Freedom to vote shouldn’t depend on having the ‘right’ piece of plastic in your wallet.”

We need to stop  HB323 and SB223

Additional Federal Actions You Can Take

Tell Congress: NO more funding for ICE and Border Patrol violence

From our friends at:

Everyone deserves to live free from harm. But ICE and Border Patrol are making our communities less safe—assaulting people in the streets, tearing families apart, and creating fear.

The murders of Alex Pretti, Renee Good, Keith Porter Jr., and Geraldo Lunas Campos are among the most recent examples of the deadly violence inherent in ICE and Border Patrol. This moment demands urgent action. But right now, our members of Congress are considering sending even more money to both agencies.

Tell Congress to stop funding violence. NO more money for ICE and Border Patrol!

Stop the War with Iran: Petition to Congress

From our friends at:

On Feb. 28, the United States and Israel launched major military attacks on Iran. This is immoral and blatantly illegal. No president has the authority to use military force against another nation without Congressional approval. War will never lead to peace—it will cost thousands of lives, further destabilize the Middle East, and make all of us less safe.

Tell Congress to Stop Attacks on Planned Parenthood

From our friends at:

Millions rely on Planned Parenthood health centers for birth control, cancer screenings, STI testing, and essential care. Congressional threats to Medicaid funding put these services at risk. Stand with patients now.
