BY TUESDAY - 3/25

Many bills have cleared by their respective committees and are being discussed by the full House or in executive sessions. You can’t weigh in using the online tool, but you can call and send emails.

Call or email our representatives in Concord and let them know you OPPOSE these key bills…

Tweak the words to make them your own. Add a story if you have one. Some legislators will discount written input if they see that it is a simple copy/paste…

SUBJECT LINE: Mont Vernon Constituent OPPOSES HB324, HB361, and HB741.

Dear Rep ???

I am one a registered Mont Vernon voter and I’ll be considering your voting record next election. I’m asking you to OPPOSE three bills that negatively impacting local control in different ways. They include:

HB324, relative to prohibiting obscene or harmful sexual materials in schools.

NH law already prevents the dissemination of harmful materials to minors. Moreover, schools have policies in place to explain how materials are chosen for their libraries, as well as procedures to address parental complaints.

HB361, prohibiting mandatory mask policies in schools.

This bill overrides local control. We need to continue to allow our local, elected school boards the freedom to respond to health emergencies according to the individual needs of their community.

HB741, allowing parents to send their children to any school district they choose.

This bill would have a negative impact on local communities, school districts, and taxpayers. This bill would also make it extremely difficult for schools to plan budgets, hire staff, and maintain programs, as they rely on enrollment data and local property taxes to develop their budgets.

Each of these bills detracts from local control on key issues. Please oppose each of them.

Sincerely,

Your name

BY THURSDAY - 3/27

SB287 has left the House Election Law Committee and is going to a floor vote on Thursday, March 27th.

Call or email our Senator in Concord and let her know you OPPOSE SB287

Tweak the words to make them your own. Add a story if you have one. Some legislators will discount written input if they see that it is a simple copy/paste.

Senator Denise.Ricciardi - Denise.Ricciardi@gc.nh.gov 603-271-1403

SUBJECT LINE: Mont Vernon Constituent OPPOSES SB287.

Dear Senator Ricciardi

As a registered voter in your district, I urge you to oppose SB287, requiring applicants for absentee ballots to present a copy of their photo identification with their application.

This bill will make it very difficult for elderly voters, voters with disabilities, students, traveling workers, and military voters to obtain absentee ballots.

Voting in NH is already burdensome enough. This bill adds another hurdle for absentee voters. Since voter fraud in NH is extremely low, making it more difficult and expensive to vote serves no one.

Please oppose SB287.

Sincerely,

Your name
