MVDC Actions - Week of 2/9/2025

This week I'm starting with something a little different. NHDP is asking voters to call Governor Ayotte on 2 key national issues. Her number is (603) 271-2121.

Feel free to personalize your message, but the script can be as simple as:

Hi this is ??, I live in Mont Vernon, NH, my zip code is 03057. I'm calling to demand that New Hampshire join the lawsuits suing the Trump Administration over their unconstitutional revocation of Birthright Citizenship, and their illegal withholding of federal funds for essential services.

Emailing the Governor doesn't seem to generate even an automated response.

There are a lot of bills of interest this week. Since the House and Senate tools are slightly different, I'm hoping to simplify these actions for you by listing all the HOUSE bills first, sorted by day of the week then following with the SENATE bills. This limits the number of times you have to enter your personal info into the House tool. Sadly, the Senate tool makes you re-enter personal data for each bill, but there are far fewer bills.

MONDAY:

OPPOSE HB283:

HB283 Removes Art, Music, Financial literacy, Foreign language, technology, and components of Social Studies (civics, government, ...) from the list of subjects that comprise an adequate education in NH.

1. Sign into the House Remote Testimony tool to voice your opposition.

2. Enter your personal information.

3. Select:

    • Monday, February 10th on the calendar

    • House Education and Policy Committee

    • 1:30 pm - HB283

    • I am a member of the public.

    • I am representing myself.

4. Click: "I oppose this bill", then hit the submit button at the bottom of the form. Adding remote testimony is suggested. It will help make your case.

If you'd like to do a little more, you can also reach out directly to our D42 House Reps and let them know that you oppose the bill. Our good friend Regina Conrad from Lyndeborough suggested that rather than removing courses from the required list, we should be adding a class on the US Constitution. :)

Feel free to personalize your message, but the email or phone message script can be as simple as:

Hi this is ??, I live in Mont Vernon, NH, my zip code is 03057. HB282 is totally unnecessary. The 2008 definition of an adequate education still works in 2025. As your constituent, I'm asking you to oppose HB283.
